Tierras del Sud [Southern Lands], Teatro Amazonas [Amazon Theatre] and Extraños mares arden [Strange Seas Burn] are the three shows in the Trilogía Pacífico [Pacific Trilogy] by the Azkona&Toloza company. A threepart work about neo-colonialism in South America today. This Basque-Chilean group performed Tierras del Sud at Espai Lliure last season, which was arranged as an artistic model by the company La Ruta 40. After performing Teatro Amazonas at the GREC Festival, they are back with the three shows together.

What connects the Luciano Benetton Italian textile company with the small Curiñanco-Nahuelquir Maputxe clan? And what links Mauricio Macri, Argentina’s current president, with Sylvester Stallone? What does Emanuel Ginobili, an NBA player, have to do with Butch Cassidy? The answers to all these questions are here, thousands of miles from the United States and Europe. Here, in the south of the south, on the southern borders of the Americas, in the most depopulated region of Argentina. Here, between vast crystal-clear lakes and huge snowcapped peaks, between the Andes and the Atlantic. In Puelmapu, the ancestral land of the Maputxe people.
