The company El Conde de Torrefiel comes back to Montjuïc with a show for adults that portrays a landscape, the last front of resistance to the shameless facialization that disfigures our world today.

La Plaza begins with an end, the end of a piece that has lasted 365 days and in which absolutely nothing has happened. The reading of the thoughts that shake in the head of one of the spectators in front of this single image is the single movement on stage. This hypnotic initial stretch is soon transformed on the way home to an individual who traces his passage through the world through his thoughts. A landscape in motion that mutates imperceptibly through projected words, where habitual characters are represented in a disturbing way, without faces, but recognizable by their social identity. The thoughts, ideas, sensations and memories of this character configure a look and randomly signify these tableaux vivant that make up the outside world. A reality given by subjective perception that penetrates your consciousness and from which, sometimes and from the maximum simplicity, something deeper and more disturbing emerges.

La Plaza draws an impressionist landscape through lights, sound and an aesthetic of ethereal and spectral character, which takes the public space as a reduced paradigm of the contemporary world. A space and a time whose limits are blurred by a reality that is already liquid and that is constructed of lives that are invisible almost by voluntary omission; a reality melted, dissolved by numerous subjectivities that cohabit, without touching.

La Plaza is narrated in the second person of the singular, cancels the "I" or the "we" as a collective and active representation of a game of perception of a world forcibly alienated, alienating, immobile, near death and nothingness, where the others onlyreach the category of image; a superficial image that can hardly be touched.

WHAT THE CRITICS SAID

"This coming and going between public space and intimate space is a noise of the world that reminds Michel Houellebecq: without mercy and encouragement, because it cheats with emptiness and fear."
Brigitte Salino – Le Monde

"It’s fascinating to see how bewitching this piece is with its contemplative narrative. El Conde de Torrefiel is celebrated as new favourites of European theatre, not mistakenly."
Stefan Michalzick – Frankfurter Runschau

"It is, in short, a sensory experience of elevated intellectuals, from which many personal reflections can be drawn, which awakens the mind and senses, so full of content and edges as to live up to their own pretensions."
Ivan F. Mula – Teatre Barcelona

"One thing is certain, introducing us in this way into the heart of what appears as our contemporary psyche, El Conde de Torrefiel signs his most mature creation."
Hugues Le Tanneur - Culturebox France

"La Plaza is, in my humble opinion, a hammer to all complacency, to all complacency, a hammer that appeals to our tolerated barbarism, our prejudices, our belief system and our way of looking."
Núria Corominas - Teatron
