The director Sergio Peris-Mencheta and the actor and playwright Juan Diego Botto are joining forces again in a piece about the southern border crossing in Spain, told in the first person by Ahmed Younoussi.

14.4 aims to use blatantly realistic yet unabashedly lyrical and poetic language to explore the journey separating two worlds that are only 14.4 kilometres apart. We’ll hear the story of Ahmed, a boy who escapes an abusive family to live on the streets of Tangier. There, on the streets of the port city, he experiences adventures, dreams and misadventures, with one obsession running through it all: crossing over to Spain, viewed as paradise on earth, the end of the road, the Ithica that all travellers dream of. Ahmed does manage to cross over to the Peninsula at the age of nine, hidden under a lorry. And here in the promised land, he encounters another odyssey that is far from his dream but not totally bereft of humour, adventures, networks of solidarity and unexpected endings.
