We are presenting an 1890 play by the Belgian playwright Maurice Maeterlinck, the top representative of the symbolist movement and the winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1911.

It examines the human condition through the story of a dozen blind men waiting in the middle of the forest for someone to return. The person who was guiding them, a priest, has died, and they are trying to situate themselves in the space without losing their sense of time by identifying points of reference and using logic. Along the way, they discover that they don’t really know each other well, and that they have always been alone. Yet no matter how desperate they are, they never lose hope.

It is an examination of humanity shrouded in Platonism, fatalism and mysticism.
