We are returning to Sophocles’ classic in a genre version directed by Helena Tornero with the multitalented Pau de Nut.
On this occasion, Tornero adds a twist to the character of Antigone, who is often presented as a symbol of protest against oppression. There is a trap hidden in Sophocles’ tragedy, as it also conveys a message: if you are a woman and dare to protest against injustice, your destiny is death. Now that we are in the 21st-century, we want the Antigones of the future to be alive and free. And let them laugh a little too, for goodness ‘sake!
