Theatre project design
4 grants of € 2,300 each
At the Lliure, we are making a particular effort this year to discover new authors from around the world. Because we miss being able to travel, and we believe that opening up to other regions of the world that are further away opens up our perspective as it does when we go to visit them. And theatre is a way of getting closer to them. We also believe that there are ages at which writing provides very special views of life.
Accordingly, we have selected theatre projects based on any type of language and/or artistic expression (dramatic texts, novels, essays, fiction or documentary scripts, installations and exhibitions) by authors who were under 30 years old when they created those works.
- Blanca Garcia Lladó for Cowboy Mouth, by Patti Smith and Sam Shepard."Maladjusted" young people or an obsolete society? LIVE life to the full and rediscover yourself.
- Ça marche for Cantus gestualis or who's gonna reset the bones. An X-ray of pain (and its inherent terror).
- El EJE for Finitud: Pluja de pedres [Finiteness: Rain of stones]. The concept of the "me and us" binomial and its limits, considered from two perspectives: the monogamous couple and the post-COVID19 situation.
- Héctor Mellinas for Don Joan i Faust [Don Juan und Faust]. Helplessness after the discovery that our male points of reference are no longer valid.
The Carlota Soldevila extraordinary grants are possible thanks to the partnership between the Theatre and the Fundació Banc Sabadell. This partnership is a response to the desire of both institutions to foster and support theatre art and production.

Dramatic texts
5 grants of € 2,300 each
We have selected newly written texts that reflect on the changes in society's model and workings that may take place after a major disruptive event such as a pandemic, although this was not necessarily the reference point. These are texts that talk about what may or may not have changed, about new human fears and relationships, survival, grief, perseverance, euphoria and loneliness. About what it has taught us and what it has not, as a human group, as a society and as individuals, and its consequences.
- Yaiza Berrocal Guevara for Ni temeré les feres [Nor will I fear the beasts]. This text is a dramatic exploration of the proliferation of conspiracy theories in late capitalism.
- Matías Daporta for Washington, by Lars Von Trier. A story which takes a critical look at the influence of culture.
- Ferran Dordal Lalueza for Weltschmerz (provisional title). What are our alternatives as individuals in a state of permanent crisis?
- La Virguería for El missioner [The missionary]. The influence exerted by the music industry through the music video, a missionary for the capitalist way of life all over the world.
- Oriol Morales i Pujolar for A la vall [In the valley]. Catastrophe interrupts everything imaginable. Catastrophe is the defeat of man and his ridiculous capacity for imagination and control. Long live catastrophe.
The Carlota Soldevila extraordinary grants 20/21 are possible thanks to the partnership between the Theatre and the Fundació Banc Sabadell. This partnership is a response to the desire of both institutions to foster and support theatre art and production.

What should we talk about with children and young people? How do we talk to them? Perhaps we need to look at the current situation of despondency and exhaustion through their eyes?
