This venue was inaugurated in November 2001, and it is equipped with the latest theatre technology to bring the spirit of the Gràcia theatre right up to date, with total flexibility in the layout of the stage and its relationship to the audience.

The Teatre Lliure was founded in 1976 in the building that used to house the Cooperativa La Lleialtat factory. This venue has staged some of the most famous productions in the history of Catalan theatre. The movable and flexible layout which can be adjusted to meet the needs of each production enabled the introduction of a new model of theatre art to Catalonia. It was closed for refurbishment in November 2003, returned to activity on September 2010.
