This exhibition proposes an essential look over the course of our time: a selection from the personal archive of Josep Ros Ribas, as long and extensive as his career as a stage photographer.
Loved, admired and respected, Ros Ribas is also an authority for the majority of Spanish and European theatrical creators. With all of them he has walked hand in hand along this fertile path for over thirty years, gathering in an unmistakably personal way the most outstanding aspects of theatre both from this country and from the main European stages and companies.
A stage master, he, like no one, knows how to catch the light, the movement, the staging and the emotion of what he portrays. The photographs of Ros Ribas are an attractive work for the profane eye and a management notebook for the theatre observer, because he translates into an image the body and soul of each of the shows that he photographs.
For those who saw the shows, his images evoke the emotion of memory. And those who receive his photographs as the first report of works they never saw, are stimulated by imagining the aroma, the energy and the art of everything that happened in them.
The intention of this exhibition in offering this collection of flashbacks is to delight both the lover of photography and the theatre spectator and to highlight the author being paid tribute both in his capacity as photographer and as a fleeting witness of a part of our recent cultural history. |
